Dear Battle Academy Families, 

I hope this letter finds you well and that you have had a wonderful summer break full of fun and family time. My name is Dr. Jennifer Whalen  and I am honored and thrilled to introduce myself as the new principal of Battle Academy! It is with great enthusiasm that I continue my work with our amazing school community, known for its dedication to academic excellence and supportive environment for all students.

On a personal note, my family and I are deeply rooted in the Battle community. My husband and I have two children who attend Battle and are proud to be Rockets! Chattanooga captured my heart during my college years, prompting our move from Baltimore, Maryland to Tennessee. We are grateful to call this vibrant city our home and to call Battle Academy our school family. 

Before joining the Battle team, my journey included roles as an elementary classroom teacher, a secondary special education teacher, and a K-12 behavior specialist. For the past four years, I have proudly served as the Assistant Principal here at Battle. I have loved every year that I have served as an educator, and I believe that the 24/25 school year will be the best one yet!

As your new principal, I am dedicated to upholding Battle Academy's tradition of excellence and experiential learning. At Battle, we want our students to love school! That is why Battle’s staff pours their heart into everything we do, from engaging lessons in the classroom to a robust STEM and Arts program, it is all developed to foster a love of learning in your child. I believe in the power of strong partnerships between home and school, and I look forward to collaborating with each of you to ensure each of our students is thriving.

I am beyond excited for you all to meet her and welcome her into the Battle family!
